BLUES SKI THEIR WAY TO OUA BRONZE

The Varsity Blues men’s team finished third at the 2012 OUA Nordic ski championships, February 25-26, in Sudbury, Ont.

Toronto finished with 96 points, behind perennial powerhouses Lakehead (42) and Carleton (45).  Fifth-year veteran Aaron Barter of Almonte, Ont., was named an OUA all-star.

Barter finished eighth overall in the men’s 10km classic on Saturday, before earning a 10th place finish in the freestyle on Sunday.

Ian Weir also had a solid weekend, placing 11th in the 5km classic and 12th in the freestyle.

Emma Spelt led Toronto’s women and also garnered OUA all-star status. The rookie skier placed seventh in the women’s 5km classic on Saturday and ninth in the freestyle on Sunday.
