Zoe MacKinnon was a member of two Varsity Blues provincial and national championship field hockey teams before embarking on a highly-touted international career.

In only her first year of intercollegiate competition (1979), Zoe became an OWIAA and CIAU champion.

She went on to lead the team to their fourth national title in 1981, with Toronto becoming the first non-conference champion to win the national banner.

She backstopped the Blues to the 1982 CIAU silver medal and was named to the Tournament 11. That same year, she helped lead the team to their 18th provincial title, after allowing only four goals against in 10 regular season games. During CIAU tournament play, Zoe only allowed four goals in six games, recording four shutouts. She not only kept opposing teams scoreless but also supplied the direction and leadership defensively that is necessary for championship teams.

Following the 1982 season, the two-time all-Canadian earned a berth on Canada’s 1983 World Cup team and went on to represent Canada at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, where Canada earned a fifth-place finish.
