Wally set intercollegiate records in the broad jump in each year from 1936 through 1938. In 1939 he set a record in the shot put and also won the brad jump and discus. He won a total of 31 medals in four years of intramural Track and Field, and also participated in intramural Baseball, Basketball, Football and Volleyball. He competed in the 1938 British Empire Games, and won numerous Canadian titles, including long jump and triple jump in 1943. Wally taught and coached at Bloor Collegiate and Parkdale Collegiate from 1946 until his death in 1970.
