Beattie Ramsay's illustrious Varsity career began in 1914-15 as a member of the U of T Junior Hockey team which won the Intercollegiate and OHA championships. For the first time, an entire Varsity junior team was awarded First Colours and all team members then enlisted for World War I in the spring of 1915. Following the war, Ramsay returned to U of T and had three outstanding seasons on the senior Blues: 1919-20: Intercollegiate and OHA champions, lost Allan Cup final to Winnipeg; 1920-21: team captain as Blues won Intercollegiate, OHA and Allan Cup championships; 1921-22: Intercollegiate champions and lost the OHA title to Toronto Granites who eventually won the Allan Cup. He also participated in Cross Country running and Rowing, and served on the Men's Athletic Directorate in 1921-22. Following graduation, Ramsay coached the senior Hockey Blues to the 1922-23 Intercollegiate title. The next season, he played defence for Toronto Granites, the 1923-24 OHA and Allan Cup champions, and winners of the Gold Medal at the 1924 Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix, France. He later coached at Princeton University and played in the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Ramsay is a member of the Saskatchewan Hall of Fame and Canada's Hockey Hall of Fame.
