A two-time OUA champion, Teresa Piotrowski put the Varsity Blues women’s wrestling team on the map during her three-year athletic career at U of T.
Teresa led the Blues women’s team to a silver medal in 1997 and a bronze medal finish at the 1998 CIAU championships. In addition to her two OUA individual titles, she also garnered two CIAU gold medals in the 58kg weight class and one silver medal in the 53kg class. She is a three-time league all-star and a two-time CIAU all-Canadian.
In 1998, Teresa became the first Varsity Blue to be named the OUA and CIAU female wrestler of the meet, and was a keynote speaker at the 1998 OFSAA women’s wresting dinner. The following year she was honoured as the recipient of the R.W. Pugh Fair Play Award at the CIAU championships.
A three-time gold medalist at the Ontario women’s open championships, Teresa was named the outstanding female wrestler at the 2002 McMaster national open wrestling tournament. She earned a silver medal at the 2002 New York Athletic Club Christmas championships, before garnering a gold medal at the Guelph Open in 2003.
Teresa was the 2003 national champion and a world team member in the 50kg class. She won gold medals at the Can-Am Open, the Commonwealth Games and Germany’s Hans Von Zons tournament.
