Steve Oneschuk was an outstanding player for four seasons with the Football Blues, including the championship teams in 1951 and 1954. He was co-captain and Most Valuable Player in 1954. He also played three seasons with the Basketball Blues and was Secretary of the Basketball Club in 1954-55. Oneschuk earned a total of seven First Colours and in 1954 received the Biggs Trophy for outstanding Leadership, Sportsmanship and Performance.
He played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League from 1955-60, and participated in three Grey Cup games. Following retirement as a high school principal, Oneschuk has embarked on a new career as a wildlife carver and illustrator. He is a director of the Hamilton Art Gallery and is active with the Canadian Cancer Society in Hamilton.
