Golf
Arguably one of the best male golfers ever to compete for the Varsity Blues, Rob Gibson led U of T to the 1983 OUAA championship banner in convincing fashion. He garnered the individual championship title by an incredible 10-stroke margin over teammate Rick Anderson (149-159), giving U of T a seven-stroke advantage over the second-place Waterloo Warriors.
Gibson twice won the Arthur Caplan Trophy, given to the member of the golf team considered most worthy in the opinion of his teammates. He capped off his career at U of T in 1982, winning the Waterloo Invitational and as a co-champion of the York Invitational. After graduation, Gibson came back as an assistant coach and helped guide the Blues to the 1985 OUAA title. He received a University of Toronto Arbor Award in 1996, in recognition of his outstanding volunteer service to the University.
