The 1998-99 OUA track and field female athlete of the year, Lami Oyewumi was the top- ranked 60m and 300m sprinter in the CIAU in her final year of intercollegiate competition. A six-time CIAU gold medalist, Lami was named an all-Canadian in each season from 1997-2000.

She was a member of the first-place 4x200m and 4x400m relay teams in 1996-97 and earned her first CIAU individual medal when she placed second in the 60m in 1997-98. That year, the OUA champion Varsity Blues track and field team set a CIAU points record on their way to a national title.

Named a team captain in 1998-99, Lami won CIAU gold medals in both the 60m and 300m sprints and went on to successfully defended her 300m national title in 1999-00, while finishing second in the shorter sprint.

To this day, Lami holds the second-fastest 300m time and is third in the 60m on the Varsity Blues women’s all-time record list.
