Jill Ross was Canada's top performer in the heptathlon from 1980 through 1984 and her Canadian record of 6,038 points stood from 1982 until 1993. In 1982, she set the Canadian Indoor Pentathlon Record of 4,523 points in 1982, which still stands almost 12 years later, and also the Canadian Record in the 60m Hurdles. Ross set records in winning the CIAU Indoor 60m Hurdles and Long Jump in both 1981 and 1982, and won five OWIAA Gold Medals in Indoor competition: Long Jump 1979, 1981 and 1982; records in the 60m Hurdles in 1981 and 1982. She was ranked number one in Canada from 1980 to 1984 in the heptathlon. She was co-winner of the first U of T Athlete of Year Award in 1980 and was sole winner in 1982. Ross won the Canadian national title in in Pentathlon in 1979, in Heptathlon from 1982-84 and Long Jump in 1980, plus numerous titles and records at the provincial level. She qualified for five major international events: 1980 and 1984 Olympic Games; 1982 Commonwealth Games, 1979 Pan-American Games and 1983 Pan Pacific Games. She is currently teaching and coaching in Toronto.
