Frank Pindar worked in many different roles in women’s and men’s athletics at U of T from 1972-2004.
He started his career at U of T as the coordinator of administration services with the department of physical education (women) from 1972-77. Following that, he assumed the role of coordinator of administration services with the merged department of athletics and recreation from 1977-89 and again from 1990-98. He served as as the acting director of the department of athletics and recreation in 1989-90 and ended his career in the Faculty the manager of intercollegiate business from 1998-2004.
Pindar was a fixture at Varsity Stadium and Arena, responsible for many aspects of the intercollegiate program, particularly game management functions such as ticketing, concessions, security and hosting.
Among his many roles, Pindar served as liaison to the Vanier Cup committee when the annual football championship game was played at Varsity Stadium. He also played a key role at the University Cup intercollegiate men’s hockey championships in Toronto, devoting countless volunteer hours to preparing for the tournament.
Pindar contributed to the University’s sport and recreation programs, advising on budget matters and facility allocations. He was also a member of the design team for the Warren Stevens building from 1974-79. In 2003, Pindar received the Thomas R. Loudon Award, presented by the University of Toronto for outstanding service in the advancement of athletics.
Pindar passed way on December 8, 2009.
