Liz Daniel played two Varsity sports from 1968-71: Swimming (three years as captain and competed at the national university championships) and Field Hockey (three undefeated teams). In UofT Interfaculty competition she played four years in each of Ice Hockey, Badminton, Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball and Golf, winning numerous championships. She was President of the PHE Women's Athletic Association 197O-71 and in 1971 received the Benson Honour Award(for outstanding ability in athletics and scholarship), the PHE Alumni Shield and 4th year Shield. 

Since joining the U of T athletics staff in 1971, she has compiled an outstanding record in coaching and administration. In coaching: Swimming--6 years, 2 championships; Intermediate Field Hockey--3 years, 3 championships; Senior Field Hockey--14 years, 11 Ontario championships, 6 Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union national championships including undefeated teams in 1985 and 1986, 3 times CIAU Coach of the Year, 5 times OWIAA Coach of the Year. She is also head coach of the Ontario senior field hockey team which has won the past seven national championships and is the National Regional Coach for Ontario and Quebec. In administration: Intercollegiate Co-ordinator since 1979; two terms as CIAU Vice-President(Women's Programs) 1982-86; President of the Ontario Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Association 1981-82 and U of T voting delegate to the OWIAA since 1977; member of the Government of Ontario Ministerial Task Force on Sport and Fitness Policy 1982-86; member of the PHE Admissions Committee since 1976 and member of the PHE Council 1976-78.
