An accomplished and versatile athlete, Thompson represented Varsity in four intercollegiate sports: Badminton (1966-69), individual and doubles champion 3 times, CIAU silver medalist in 1967; Basketball (1969); Field Hockey (1968-69, 2 championships) and Tennis (1968-69).
She was also active in Interfaculty sports: Badminton, Basketball, Field Hockey, Ice Hockey and Tennis.
Thompson also served on many athletics committees, including the U of T women's Athletics Directorate (2 years), student representative to the WIAU (1 year) and the Victoria College Athletic Association (3 years, President in 1968-69).
She was a member of the Ontario provincial teams in Field Hockey and Squash team for several years and was a founding member of the Toronto Ladies Squash competition. She was ranked among the Top 5 Squash players in Ontario for several years. Thompson currently owns and operates "Womansports" store in Toronto.
