Andre Hidi enjoyed an illustrious playing career during his four years with the Varsity Blues (1980-84). To this day, Hidi ranks fourth on U of T’s all-time leading scorers list with 92 goals and 98 assists for 190 points.

He helped the Blues to the 1982 and 1984 Ontario titles and served as an assistant captain when U of T earned the CIAU national championship title in 1984.  That year, Hidi was named an OUAA first team all-star and CIS all-Canadian, while also earning the Jack Kennedy Trophy as the MVP in the OUAA playoffs and the CIAU University Cup MVP award.

Prior to playing for the Blues, the three-time OUAA all-star notched 67 points in 71 games for the Peterborough Petes, the 1979-80 OHL champions and Memorial Cup finalists. That team also represented Canada at the world junior championships in Helsinki.

Hidi was taken 148th overall by the Colorado Rockies in the 1980 NHL entry draft and after his career with the Blues, signed with the Washington Capitals as a free agent, scoring two goals and adding one assists in nine NHL games during the next two seasons.

He played most of the 1984-86 seasons with the Binghamton Whalters in the AHL, notching 32 goals and 46 assists in 130 games. Hidi went onto attend Stanford University’s graduate school of business, first working as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley and Salomon Smith Barney / Citigroup before joining BMO Capital Markets.
