University of Toronto Varsity Blues standout Gabriela Stafford placed 21st overall at the 2017 IAAF World track and field championships in London.
The psychology major finished 12th in semifinal #2 in a time of 4:08.51.Â
Stafford ran a personal best 4:04.55 on Friday afternoon to qualify for the semifinals. She placed seventh in her heat and held the 13th fastest time heading into the semifinals.

The 2016 Olympian enjoyed great success on the track for the Varsity Blues this season. The fourth-year veteran earned U SPORTS first team all-Canadian honours, winning both the 1500m and 3000m races in helping Toronto to their third straight U SPORTS banner at the national championships in Edmonton.
Stafford also claimed the OUA 1500m individual gold medal, garnering OUA first team all-star honours, as Toronto finished third overall at the provincial championships.
