MOUNTAIN BIKING WINS UNIVERSITY CUP

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues mountain biking team claimed their first championship title since 2006 as the 2017 University Cup wrapped up on Sunday, October 1 at Hardwood Hills.
 
The Blues finished the season with 1872 points ahead of the defending champion Queen's Gaels (1760) and the Guelph Gryphons (489).

Andrea Burley won her fourth straight gold medal in the women's A division, to claim the overall individual title. Burley crossed the finish line in 49:03 ahead of Queen's Gaels biker Hannah Simms (50:46). Fellow Varsity Blue Leslie Norris placed third in a time of 52:48.
 
Kate Stewart placed third on the day in the women's B division in 28:55.
 
Peter Wen won the men's B division overall title following a second-place finish today at Hardwood Hills. Wen finished in 35:47, just behind Durham College's Ben Warnock. U of T biker Adam Lieberman was third in 37:31.
