KOS COMMITS TO MEN'S VOLLEYBALL IN 2015-16

The University of Toronto men's volleyball program is pleased to announce that Andrew Kos has signed a letter of intent and committed to play for the Varsity Blues starting in September, 2015.

A Toronto native, Kos is a three-time indoor provincial champion with the Pakmen Volleyball Club. The squad has twice won the national championship, taking home the 14U crown in 2011 and 15U title in 2012, while more recently winning the 2015 Chicago Winter Classic and Penn State Nittany Invitational.

"Andrew is a an exceptional young man and student-athlete," said Varsity Blues head coach John Barrett. "He is going to be a perfect fit for our program. His maturity and character are going to be huge assets. I am extremely excited for the opportunity to coach him."

Kos will be graduating from Bishop Allen Academy this spring, where he has led the Cardinals to two TDCAA championship titles and an AAAA bronze medal at the 2014 OFSAA championship. Named the team MVP, Kos is also a two-time recipient of the TCDSB student achievement award for athletic excellence.

Kos has also had great success on the beach, winning the provincial and national championships three times in varying age groups. He gives back to the volleyball community as a volunteer head coach of the Bishop Allen junior boys team.

"I chose U of T because it is a world-class university with a storied history in sport," said Kos. "The Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport marks a new chapter in that history, which I'm excited to be a part of. Under coach Barrett's guidance, I feel we have a chance to do something special."

Students who sign a letter of intent and commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play/participate at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
