Nicole Knudsen and Taisley Isaac of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues fastpitch team were honroued as OIWFA all-stars last month at the league's championship.
Â
Capturing her third consecutive all-star nomination was centre fielder Nicole Knudsen. The third-year player from Aurora, Ontario has been a staple at the top of the lineup for all three seasons and 2015 was no exception. In what was Knudsen's best statistical year to date, the CF batted .444 and reached base at a .474 percentage. Add to those wonderful numbers, 29 runs scored, and a team-leading 24 runs driven in and her usual excellent defence and it's no surprise that #7 was selected again.
Â
Taisley Isaac was the other recipient of an all-star nomination. The third-year pitcher from North Battleford, Saskatchewan had a wonderful year in the pitching circle. Starting a team-high 11 games, Isaac compiled a 9-1 win/loss record. The hard throwing right hander pitched 65 innings for the Blues this season giving up only 22 earned runs, on her way to a sparkling 2.37 earned run average. In the playoffs, Taisley got the start in four of the six games, getting the win in the bronze medal clinching game.
