CIS/CCA MEN'S CURLING CHAMPIONSHIP DAY 3 RECAP

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's curling team went 1-1 on Day 3 of the CIS/CCA curling championships on Friday in Regina.

Draw 5: Toronto vs Brock

In a must-win game for both teams, skip Evan Lilly and the Blues got out to a great start, notching two points in the second end.  The Badgers (Scott Brandon) answered back with three in the third, but Toronto held strong to regain the lead with two in the fourth. Brock added a single in the fifth and the game remained deadlocked at 4-4 at the halfway mark of the game.
 
U of T came out of the break and notched a big three points in the sixth and went onto steal two in the seventh to build a 9-4 advantage.  Despite two from Brock in the eighth, Toronto sealed the win with a single point in the ninth, 10-6.

Draw 6: Toronto vs Alberta

Alberta and 2012 world junior champion skip Brendan Bottcher got out to a 2-0 lead after two ends, but the Blues cut the deficit with a single point in the third. The Bears added three in the fifth to take a 5-1 lead at the midway point of the game.
 
Skip Evan Lilly and the Blues battled back and had a chance for three in the 10th end, but fell just shy, dropping the 7-6 decision.
