The Varsity Blues men’s soccer program is pleased to announce that Ezequiel Lubocki has committed to play soccer and pursue an education at the University of Toronto in the fall of 2010.
A former member of Canada’s under-17 national program, Lubocki will be looked upon to strengthen U of T’s midfield. The Winnipeg, Man. native was named the 2009 Manitoba Soccer Association’s Harry Harwood male player of the year and was twice named Gray Academy school’s athlete of the year (2007, 2008).
"We are very excited that Zee will be joining our program in August,” said head coach Anthony Capotosto. “He is an exceptional player who embodies all the qualities we are looking for in a student-athlete. Our coaching staff is looking forward to working with him during his time at the University of Toronto. There is no doubt he will make a significant contribution next season and beyond.”
Lubocki, a graduate of University of Winnipeg Collegiate, will begin his pursuit of a degree in international relations in September.
The University of Toronto is set to host the 2010 CIS men's soccer championships Nov. 11-14, 2010 at Varsity Centre.
Students who sign a letter of intent and commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
