The Varsity Blues had many outstanding individual performances in 2010. Shujon Mazumder was named both the OUA and CIS outstanding male wrestler for his gold-medal performances in the 54kg category.

Mazumder defeated CIS top-ranked Aaron Fabiano of the Brock Badgers to garner his OUA title and went on to beat Regina’s Steven Schneider in the CIS gold-medal match.

Dene Ringuette also won a gold medal at the OUA championships in the men’s 76kg category and went on to finish third at the national event.

Other notable results at the OUA championships include Matt Fructman’s fourth-place finish in the 90kg and John Feng’s fifth-place finish in the 68kg class.

On the women’s side, Melissa Biscardi won an OUA silver medal in the 48kg event.

Mazumder and Ringuette were name OUA first team all-stars, while Biscardi earned a second team nod. Mazumder was also recognized as a CIS first team all-Canadian.
