University of Toronto Varsity Blue Steven Kung earned his third consecutive all-Canadian nod as major award winners and all-Canadians were announced at the 2010 CIS men’s volleyball championship banquet on Wednesday night in Kamloops, B.C.
Kung is a three-time OUA all-star and all-Canadian. The Toronto native led the OUA and was ranked second in the CIS in total points (362), total kills (316) and an impressive 5.20 points per game. The fifth-year leftside hitter also led Toronto to their first playoff appearance in three years this season.
"Steven is a fierce competitor and one that can will his team to win,” said head coach Ed Drakich. “One of the most impressive things I saw this season was that Steven recorded 106 kills in the final four matches of the season versus four of the top teams in the OUA when then Blues were fighting to qualify for the OUA playoffs. Steven had a 33% kill efficiency during these four matches and this enabled the Blues to make the OUA playoffs for the first time since 2007."
