WOMEN’S HOCKEY 2009-10 YEAR IN REVIEW

The Varsity Blues finished the 2009-10 OUA regular season in fifth place with a 14-11-2 record.

Toronto got off to a great start, going 3-0 to win the Marion Hilliard tournament at Varsity Arena (Sept. 25-27).

Despite defeating the Guelph Gryphons, 4-1, in their last regular season contest, the Varsity Blues could not repeat their performance, falling 1-0 to the Gryphons a week later in a sudden-death OUA quarter-final game to bring their season to a sudden halt.

Toronto forwards Lindsay Hill, Brenley Jorgensen and Karolina Urban led the team in scoring and all three finished amongst the top 10 in the league. Hill and Jorgensen tied for sixth with 30 points, while Urban notched 28 points in 27 games.

Third-year defenceman Kelly Setter was named an OUA second team all-star, while Kendyl Valenta finished the season ranked fifth among OUA goaltenders with a 0.927 save percentage.
