MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY 2009 YEAR IN REVIEW

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s cross country team finished just off the OUA podium for the second consecutive season in 2009.

The Blues finished fourth at the 2009 OUA championships in St. Catharines, Ont. Michael Del Monte led the Varsity Blues, finishing the 10km run in ninth place with a time of 31:12. The fourth-year veteran was also named an OUA second team all-star for a second consecutive year.

Stephen Douglas was the next U of T runner to cross the finish line in 31:53, good for a 20th individual finish, while Antun Pavelic, Andrew Nicholl and Tyler Pettes also ran for the Blues, finishing in 31st, 34th and 36th, respectively.

With Del Monte unable to compete at the CIS championship due to injury, the Blues placed 12th overall with a team score of 280 points. Toronto’s top finisher of the day was Pettes with a time of 33:11.5 (42nd). Lambert finished right behind him in 33:12.8.
