With four first-year golfers, the Varsity Blues women’s team found a way to defeat not only the defending OUA champs Western Mustangs but the undefeated and tournament favourites, Queen’s Gaels, to win the school’s first OUA women’s golf championship in 2009.

Led by individual silver medalist Na Eun Park (Winnipeg, Man.) and bronze medalist Laura Upenieks (Toronto), the Blues took a slim lead on day one (252) before pulling away on day two with a total of 242 for a combined score of 494.

The young Blues squad was impressive throughout the entire season, finishing third at the St. Thomas tournament, Western Invitational and Waterloo Invitational.

Park and Upenieks were named OUA first team all-stars, while Christine Ho earned a second team nod.
