The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s squash teams travelled to Clinton, N.Y. for two exhibition match-ups versus Hamilton College this weekend (Dec. 5-6).

The Blues played two matches against the host Hamilton Continentals, dropping the first 7-2 and the second 6-3.

In their first contest on Saturday, the No. 21 Continentals proved to be too much for the Blues men at the top of the order despite Adrian Pond (Toronto), Shahan Khatchadourian (Richmond Hill, Ont.), and Ben Hahn (Toronto) all winning a game in their respective matches.

The Blues wins came in the number seven, eight and nine games as Toronto native Wilfred Ip and Curtis Woodford (Liverpool, N.S.) defeated their opponents 3-1, and Jon Kent (Toronto) blanked his counterpart in a 3-0 victory.

The Blues fared much better up and down the order on Sunday. Pond came up with a hard fought 3-2 victory, while Brett Sagert (Calgary, Alta.), Kaustav Chatterjee (Mississauga, Ont.) and David Carl (Toronto) all picked up wins in the number seven, eight and nine spots.

With the winter exam break around the corner, the Varsity Blues return to action when they host the OUA crossover, January 16-17, 2010 at the Athletic Centre Squash Courts.
