Ten members of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues fencing team competed at the senior national fencing championships, November 26-29, at Carleton University.
The most impressive result came from one-time OUA all-star Kamil Karbonowski, who won the bronze medal in the individual men's foil event. The Milton, Ont native also went on to lead his team of Kyle Chan, Andriy Mnih and Daylin Boyce to the bronze medal in the team event, defeated only by current national team members.
Two first-year fencers on the Varsity Blues women’s team also posted a couple of impressive results as Kristina Han ranked 12th in sabre and Amber Wavryk placed 18th in epee.
The Varsity Blues return to action in 2010 as they travel back to Ottawa, Ont., January 9-10, for the Carleton Invitational.
