FIVE MEN’S WATER POLO PLAYERS EARN ALL-STAR STATUS

Five members of the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s water polo team were named 2009 all-stars as announced by the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) on Thursday, November 26.

Blues goaltender Trevor Robinson (Scarborough, Ont.) makes his third appearance on the first-team all-star in as many years in OUA water polo, while first-year players Graeme Myers (Toronto) and Luke Spooner (Auckland) garner their first all-star honours after impressive rookie campaigns. Myers finished the regular season scoring with 16 goals, while Spooner netted 27 – fifth in the OUA scoring race.

The Varsity Blues also have two men on the second team, including rookie Alan Chung (Ajax, Ont.). The first-year player is the team's leading scorer in the regular season, with 31 goals, while his teammate and Blues goaltender Andrew Chorniy (Lviv, Ukraine) receives his second all-star nod. The fifth-year veteran goalkeeper, along with teammate and first-team all-star goaltender Robinson, allowed just 49 during the regular season – tops in the conference.
