HAMILTON, Ont. – Megan Brown had been named the Pioneer Petroleums Ontario University Athletics (OUA) athletes of the week for the period ending November 8, 2009.
Brown claimed back-to-back CIS gold medals and her third individual title in four years as she paced the Toronto Varsity Blues women’s cross-country team to a second-place finish at the 2009 CIS championships in Kingston, Ont. on Nov. 14.
A Guelph, Ont. native, Brown was also victorious in 2008 and 2006 and completed the five-kilometre course at Fort Henry in a time of 16:55.9, 18.4 seconds ahead of second-place Lindsay Carson of the Guelph Gryphons.
Brown, who is completing a degree in physical education and health, was also named an all-Canadian and earns CIS athlete-of-the-year honours for the second straight season.
All Pioneer Petroleums OUA athletes of the week will each receive a $25 gift card and a dri-fit t -shirt, courtesy of Pioneer Petroleums.
