PEPPER NAMED OUA COACH OF THE YEAR

University of Toronto Varsity Blues women’s lacrosse head coach Todd Pepper has been recognized as the 2009 OUA coach of the year for the second time in three years after guiding the Blues to an undefeated regular season record (12-0) and top spot in the OUA standings.

The head coach since the team’s inception in 1994, Pepper’s teams have won two OUA gold medals, two silver medals and seven bronze medals. 2009 marks the fifth time that Pepper has received coach of the year recognition, previously winning this honour in 1999, 2002, 2004 and 2007.

A member of the Aurora Devils senior masters team, Todd also coached the Ontario junior provincial team in 1999 and was an assistant coach with the Ontario senior provincial team in 2000. He spends his summers coaching the Toronto Titans senior club team - Ontario champions in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Todd is currently entering his fourth year as the director of development with Ontario Women's Field Lacrosse. In this position, he is responsible for grassroots growth of the game, including the co-ordination of clinics, stick loan kits, as well as new club programs and high school teams.

The Varsity Blues women’s lacrosse team is the top seed heading into the 2009 OUA championship this weekend (Oct. 31-Nov. 1) at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ont. U of T takes on the Laurier Golden Hawks in semi-final action on Saturday, October 31 at 12 p.m.
