MEN’S WATER POLO GETS PAST YORK 6-5

Cagri Ilhan scored three goals as the University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s water polo team came away with a 6-5 victory over the York Lions on Wednesday, October 22 at Tait MacKenzie Centre.

The Lions put up a good fight against the defending OUA champion Blues, however a solid team effort from U of T would prevail in the end.

Graeme Myers (Toronto), Tanner Regan (Surrey, B.C.) and Luke Spooner (Auckland, New Zealand) each scored once to add to Ilhan’s (Istanbul, Turkey) hat trick performance.

With the victory, the Blues extend their winning streak to three games and sit atop the OUA standings.

The Varsity Blues return to action this weekend (Oct. 24-25) for three exhibition match-ups with the Mercyhurst Lakers. Game times are scheduled for 12 and 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday at Varsity Pool.
