MEN’S GOLF SECOND AT HOLIDAY INN COLONIAL CLASSIC

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s golf team picked up a second-place finish at the 15th annual Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport Colonial Golf Classic in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The Blues finished with an overall team score of 620, 14 strokes behind the first-place Laval Rouge et Or and 20 strokes ahead of the host Robert Morris Colonials.

Richard Persaud (Scarborough, Ont.) led U of T with a third-place individual finish, shooting a two-day score of 151 (77, 74). The international relations major was just three strokes back from the leader, Alexis Anghert of Laval, and one stroke behind second-place Ross Pringle of Clarion University. Persaud also led all golfers, shooting par 26 times over 36 holes.

Scott Samuel finished tied for fifth with an overall score of 154 (70, 84). The Oakville, Ont. native recorded one eagle and an impressive six birdies over the two-day tournament.

Fellow veteran Nick Clark (Riverview, N.B.) finished tied for 13th, shooting a 156 (81, 75), while Toronto native Daly Kim shot a 159 (81, 78).
