The University of Toronto Varsity Blues Nordic ski team participated in the Mono Nordic ski race on Saturday, January 24th in Orangeville, Ont.

This club event had entrants from OUA universities, regional skiing clubs as well as local high schools, competing in midget, junior and open divisions.

In men’s action, two Toronto skiers medaled in the 10km skate race. Aaron Barter (Almonte, Ont.) picked up the silver medal in 30:37.0 with Todd Inkila (Thunder Bay, Ont.) right behind with a time of 30:39.5 for third-place.

On the women’s side, Erin Mallinger (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) earned a bronze medal in the 7km skate race in 26:36.7 and Mary Qiu (Bolton, Ont.) was the next one to finish in a time of 29:11.7.

The Varsity Blues return to regular season competition, February 7-8, when they travel to Sudbury, Ont. for the second 2009 OUA qualifying race.
