BLUES BODE WELL AT FALL INVITATIONAL

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues figure skating team travelled to Kingston, Ont. for the 2008 Queen’s University Invitational on Saturday, November 22nd.

Craig Ruttan and Lydia Schultz were the top two Blues skaters, each picking up bronze medals in the men’s free skate and ladies short program, respectively.

Other top Toronto performances included Caitlin Gillespie finishing fourth in the senior silver solo dance and then paired up with Margot Lattanzi for another fourth-place finish in the junior silver similar dance. Gillian Saunders also finished just off the podium in the ladies senior silver freeskate.

Julie Hommik and Saunders recorded a six-place finish in the intermediate similar pairs, as did Nonita Campbell and Sonya Hessey in the senior silver similar dance and Veronica Hall and Tori Prouse in the senior similar pairs.

The Varsity Blues next competition is the Winter Invitational hosted by the University of Western Mustangs, January 21-22 in London, Ont.
